Compliance program
A compliance program is an organization’s system for preventing, finding and fixing legal and ethical problems. OIG’s guidance describes seven elements, one of which is screening people and vendors against exclusion lists.
What to know
- The elements are written policies, a compliance officer and committee, training, open lines of communication, enforcement, auditing and monitoring, and responding to problems.
- OIG’s General Compliance Program Guidance (2023) applies to every kind of health care organization, with sector-specific guidance on top.
