OIG LEIE

The LEIE (List of Excluded Individuals/Entities) is the HHS Office of Inspector General’s database of every person and organization currently barred from federal health care programs. OIG republishes it every month.

What to know

  • It is available as a searchable website and as a downloadable CSV of every exclusion in effect, replaced in full each month, plus monthly supplement files of new exclusions and reinstatements.
  • Each monthly file covers actions taken during the prior month. A person who is reinstated is removed from the file.
  • The LEIE records an NPI for many providers but not a Social Security number. OIG’s online search can confirm a match against an SSN or EIN you already hold.
  • It is the list every health care employer and contractor checks first, because it covers every federal health care program.
