Potential match
A potential match is a name in your records that resembles an entry on an exclusion list. It needs verification before it means anything: many people share a name.
What to know
- Verification compares identifiers the list holds, such as NPI, date of birth, license number or address, with your own records.
- For the LEIE, OIG’s online search can confirm a match against a Social Security or employer identification number you already hold.
- Record what you compared, what you concluded and when, whether the match is confirmed or ruled out.
